Spacelist Rentals ("Spacelist", "we", "us") helps people in Kenya find rental houses, BNBs, shops and stalls, and helps landlords advertise their spaces. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number and, for landlords, your agency or business name.
- Listing content: photos, videos, descriptions, prices and locations of rentals that landlords publish.
- Viewing requests: the name and phone number you give when you ask to view a rental, so the landlord can contact you.
- Usage activity: listing views, likes, shares and notification preferences (such as areas you want alerts about).
- Payment records: subscription status and amounts. Checkout currently simulates payments; real mobile money collection is not yet connected. We never request or store your M-Pesa PIN. This policy will be updated before real payment processing is enabled.
2. How we use your information
- To run your account and show your listings to the public.
- To connect renters and landlords (for example, passing a viewing request to the landlord).
- To send alerts you asked for, such as new rentals in an area you follow.
- To keep the platform safe, enforce our Listing Standards, and prevent fraud.
- To process subscriptions and confirm payment status.
3. What is public
Listings — including their photos, location, price and the contact phone/WhatsApp number the landlord provides — are visible to everyone, including people without an account and search engines. Do not publish a listing containing information you want to keep private.
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Landlords, when you send a viewing request (your name and phone number).
- Service providers that host the app, store data, screen listing photos and process payments, only as needed to provide those services.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
5. Data retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from My Account → Delete my account in the app, or by emailing us — see our account deletion page. Deleting your account removes your profile, listings, likes, alerts and viewing requests.
6. Security
We use encrypted connections and access controls to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure; please keep your password private and contact us immediately if you suspect misuse.
7. Children
Spacelist is intended for adults looking for or advertising rentals. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18.
8. Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. Contact us using the details below.
